Speakers

  • Mr. Pavlos Demertzis-Bouboulis A 6th generation descendant of the Greek revolutionary heroine Laskarina Bouboulina will speak about his grandmother, Laskarina. He is the Director of the Bouboulina Museum in Spetses and a graduate of the Business School at the University of Glasgow, Scotland.
  • Dr. Annita Prassa Historian specializing in Greek History of 19th & 20th centuries will speak about Manto Mavrogenous. Research interests include history of Greek and European Education, Greek Enlightenment, and Greek Revolution. Has written 7 books.
  • Ms. Fotini Baxevani Acclaimed Greek actress, and HAWC Member, will talk about Despina Achladioti, the Lady of Ro. During the evening, she will perform “The Lady of Ro" and transform into Despina, the patriotissa who became a national legend. ​

Prof. Giannis Chrysoulakis The Secretary General for Public Diplomacy and Greeks Abroad Hellenic Republic Ministry of Foreign Affairs Prof. Chrysoulakis will introduce Stella Kokolis.

Stella Kokolis Keynote Speaker and Aristeon Award Honoree Educator & Philanthropist Stella Kokolis, a HAWC co-founder, is widely known as a preeminent community leader, educator, and humanitarian in the United States and abroad. Stella nurtures the values of Greek language and culture, and she has kept them alive for thousands of people. Stella continues to kindle the light of Hellenic education for more than 50 years.
